How to Play Poker

Poker

Poker is a card game in which players place bets using their cards. A standard 52-card pack is used for the game. It can also include jokers. Most poker games are played with one pack, but you can play with two to speed up the game. In this case, one pack is dealt while the other is shuffled. The previous dealer assembles the cards from the dealt pack and shuffles them, placing them to his or her left. The dealer then passes the shuffled deck to the next dealer.

You may also make a “call” if you do not wish to bet. When you call, you simply place a bet equal to the last bet or raise. For example, if the person to your right had bet $10, you would say “call.” The other player would then place $10 in chips or cash into the pot. You can also fold at any point of the hand. When you fold, you usually return to watching the game.

The game itself is very simple. The dealer deals each player a certain number of cards. Some games require an ante or blind bet. Generally, the player with the highest hand wins the pot.
